BUILT TO PROTECT YOUR BOARDS.
IT’S NOT JUST THE WAVES YOUR BOARDS HAVE TO SURVIVE.
You’ve checked the forecast, packed your boards, and chased the swell. But between check-in and the coastline, baggage handlers, packed cars, and rough roads can put your boards through more than the waves ever will.
BUILT FOR THE MILES BEFORE THE WAVES.
Rán combines the flexibility of a traditional boardbag with reinforced protection engineered to withstand rough handling, long distances, and unpredictable conditions.
“We started Rán after too many flights spent worrying about our boards. We wanted protection we could trust in a lightweight, foldable bag. So we built it.”
— Pablo Victorino, Founder
Frequently Asked Questions
-
You should be looking forward to your trip, not wondering whether your boards will survive it. That’s why we spent three years engineering and testing LayerLock™, the protection system at the heart of every Rán bag.
We put the bag through the hazards boards face in transit. The result? Not a single ding or pressure dent. The secret is a layered foam-and-plastic construction that protects the rails, nose, and tail while keeping the bag lightweight and foldable.
No towels, no bubble wrap, no packing tutorials.
-
No. That is exactly what Rán was designed to eliminate. Its built-in protective structure protects your boards throughout the journey, so there is no need for towels, clothes, or extra foam. You can finally use that space for the things you actually want to bring.
-
Our first boardbag is designed to securely carry up to three boards ranging from 5'5" to 7'0". Its adaptable interior and integrated compression system keep different shapes and lengths firmly in place.
-
Every Rán boardbag comes ready for the journey. It is constructed from durable, UV-resistant, PU-coated 600D polyester and features an integrated impact-protection system, adjustable padded straps to secure your boards, dedicated pockets for fins and accessories, and a comfortable shoulder strap for airports, transfers, and every mile in between.
-
The Rán boardbag is expected to weigh approximately 6 kg. With two midlengths, fins and leashes packed inside, you should still have roughly 7 kg available before reaching the common 23 kg checked-baggage limit. That is typically enough for a 5/4 wetsuit, towels, shoes, and four to six days of clothing.
-
Yes. The segmented construction of our LayerLock™ protection system allows the boardbag to fold down and roll up much like a sleeping bag, making it easier to store when the trip is over.
-
We are currently working with a select group of manufacturers to identify the right production partner and ensure every Rán boardbag meets our standards for protection, durability, materials, and craftsmanship.
The Rán boardbag is expected to be available to the public in early 2027, with final production and delivery timelines confirmed ahead of launch.

Rán takes its name from the Norse goddess of the sea, embodying its depths and unpredictable nature. That felt right to us. Every surf trip begins with a step into the unknown, and that’s part of what makes it worth taking.
